State Emergency Service
The State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer-based emergency service division of FESA. It is the Hazard Management Agency for tropical cyclones, floods, storms, earthquakes and tsunamis and is also a combat authority providing teams of trained personnel for land search, vehicle rescue (in specified areas), civil defence, cliff and cave rescue. SES also provides a range of support activities to other emergency services and committees in the Western Australian emergency management system.
SES Volunteers.
There are 2,000 SES volunteers providing SES services, which include delivering education programs on prevention and preparation as well as operational services.
The volunteers within the WA State Emergency Service are supported by 41 permanent staff from the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA).

Sincere condolences to Joan Spence and family on the passing of husband Ivan. As a past Mandurah SES Operations Team Leader, Ivan's dedication as an SES Volunteer will be fondly remembered in the Units historical records. RIP old friend.
